Жесты "святых" на иконах означают следующее:
- прижатая к груди рука — сердечное сопереживание;
- поднятая вверх рука — призыв к покаянию;
- протянутая вперед рука с раскрытой ладонью — покорность и повиновение;
- обе руки, поднятые вверх — моление о мире;
- протянутые вперед руки — жест просьбы, помощи;
- прижатые к щекам руки — знак печали, скорби.
